Charlotte’s Biggest Outdoor Venue Gets an Updated Look for Summer
Truliant Amphitheatre (formerly known as PNC Music Pavillion) is the largest outdoor venue in Charlotte, with a maximum capacity of 19,500. With the primary concert season running from May through September, temperatures frequently climb into the upper 90s, making heat management a top priority for venue staff and guests alike.
Staff at Truliant recognized this and developed a revamped look for the 2026 season, reimagining its concessions and merchandise areas to include large turf hangouts complete with picnic tables, string lights, fans, and custom shade sails. The new space gives guests a dedicated space to hang out, cool down, grab a bite to eat, and recharge so they are feeling refreshed to see some live music.
Large-Scale Commercial Shade Sail Installation
For this project, Atlantic Coast Shade collaborated with Carolina Design and Construction to engineer and install four of these “Hangout Areas” strategically positioned thoughout the venue. Each is situated near concession and merchandise areas to maximize foot traffic and prompt guest comfort.
Each hangout area was designed to feel like a destination within the venue itself, giving patrons a chance to relax while not missing a beat of the live music experience. The result is a cohesive look with colors that complement the amphitheatre's refreshed brand while delivering relief from the heat. Our commercial-grade shade sails block up to 98% of UV rays with a porous texture which maintains airflow- a critical feature in the humid Charlotte climate.
